Bach Flower Remedy Centaury – develop your will

Centaury

Centaury

Centaury is a personality remedy.

If 3 or more symptoms match the way you are feeling today, then this is a remedy to consider.

Spiritual aspect:

Centaury helps you to develop your will, sense of self and inner purpose. It also helps you to understand that meeting other people’s needs before your own can stop you developing your own potential and also hinder the other person’s development.

Key symptoms:

A personal perspective:

A client came to me because she had a boss who was ‘difficult’. Her manager regularly yelled in people’s faces and played power games. (Vine) The staff were all nice people and tried to accommodate her moods but she made everyone nervous and there was always a level of tension when she was around.
One day, she screamed at a member of staff in front of several visitors to the office. My client was very upset by this. The next day, in a staff meeting, my client brought up the incident and asked her manager to explain why she did it. Everybody’s jaws dropped open because nobody ever confronted the boss! The manager went on the defensive and tried to blame her staff for driving her to it and went on to say how she didn’t get any support and they deserved to be shouted at!

Quietly and calmly, my client continued to answer her accusations and challenge the behaviour of the manager towards everybody at work. She was not scared, tearful or angry. My client said she had a calmness inside and felt totally OK about asserting herself because she felt the time was right to tackle things. She knew that her boss had to face up to her behaviour in order to change it. When my client didn’t back down, her manager admitted she had behaved badly and apologised.

At that time, my client was not a very assertive person and didn’t plan to challenge her boss. Her normal reaction would have been to ignore her manager’s behaviour and try to keep out of her way. Confrontations made her voice shake, she often cried during arguments and would be annoyed with herself afterwards.

On this day, when everything changed, she had been taking Centaury for about 3 weeks. Centaury really does ‘do what it says on the tin’!

My client stayed true to herself and stood up for what she believed to be right. Centaury didn’t change her from the kind and gentle person she was. She didn’t become aggressive towards her boss but firmly and fairly stood her ground. This was the start of a life-changing transformation for my client.
